WHEN YOU CAN’T DO ANYTHING FOR YOUR CHILDREN

“We can’t do anything after our children have left home”.

The above struck a chord with me while I was in a conversation that span through politics, governance, and education, with a very elderly man I paid a courtesy visit to in my usual manner to drink from their well of wisdom. So they all know my biases towards family and parenting; whatever engagement will naturally dovetail to this space, and they would not hold anything back in their advice.

” Akinola, whatever time you have with your children now spend it wisely and qualitatively because you can’t do anything after your children have left home, but you can impart that training while they are home, keep trusting the process and anticipate that God will keep His promises in their adult years……that’s all you need”. He remarked.

This is a priceless admonition from an elderly who has seen it all.

This piece of advice might be useful to someone here.

Let me say it again; you can’t do anything after your children have left home.

Thank you.

PARENTING IS EVERYBODY’S RESPONSIBILITY

Parenting is everybody’s responsibility!!!

IT IS NOT HOW GOOD MY CHILDREN ARE RAISED BUT HOW GREAT OTHER CHILDREN ARE RAISED BECAUSE NO ONE/SOCIETY/FAMILY/NATION/WORLD IS INSUSCEPTIBLE TO THE INFLUENCE OF A LARGER SOCIETY

Above all; PARENTING is not natural. It’s our responsibility, and our duty to improve on the good works our parents bequeathed to us, for a greater result.

We neither parent for today nor yesterday; we parent for tomorrow.

The future is surely bright for us.

THIS IS FOR SCHOOL OWNERS

This is for school owners!

I stepped out of my office to board a public bus to see a client, and while waiting; a school bus pulled over, momentarily, I thought it was someone who knows me and just wanted to greet but the guy asked where I was going, I mentioned it, and the next thing he asked was; “do you have change?” “No, I don’t have” I replied to him in amazement.😳 The driver later drove off.

THE SCHOOL BUS BELONGS TO A WELL KNOWN SCHOOL!!!

The estimated fare is N150. Where I was going is close to the school, just 50 metres away from their premises.

I put this out here so school owners can review their employment policy because some of these guys ‘ti gbàbòdè’ (they have compromised)

Please, don’t ask me for the name of the school, I won’t mention it here but I know how to pass the message to the school.

Thank you.

This moment can be tough

If you have lived any number of years on earth, you know that life is
full of ups and downs. That’s a fact.
We all experience difficult times in our lives at any inevitable moment.

Some may be experiencing the death of a loved one, while some may be
dealing with a job loss or adjusting to a life change. We do have them
in different degrees at a moment.

But It is only on rare occasions that you see people experiencing common
and collective pains in the hands of a few who has made people pawns in
their bid to perpetuate wickedness. This is what many of us in Nigeria
has been encountering in the past month with no respite in sight

The fuel and energy crises amid other challenges we have to deal with
are traumatizing.
I identify with you. We are in it together.

All I can tell you is to encourage yourself and I have done to remain
relaxed; while this last.
It’s a phase, it shall pass. I am sending you a load of hugs.

I host a free parenting assessment session every Tuesday in 2022.
Please, do reach out to the office should you want to be part of this
free session

Thank you

LET ME SHARE A TRUE LIFE STORY WITH YOU

It was in 2015, while in a former office complex, I was having a conversation with six of my friends in the corridor. Suddenly, I heard a loud slap from one of the rooms. A bang compared to an exchange of fisticuffs from adults.

The incident got me worried and wanted to know who slapped who! Then I saw a 6-year-old boy; grabbing a side of his cheek, wailing uncontrollably. I asked who slapped you? The fear wouldn’t allow him to mention his father did. I went inside the office , before I muttered a word, the father STERNLY CONFRONTED me; “I did”. I was furious, I asked why he did that? He yelled; ‘what’s my business with how he deemed it fit to ‘discipline’ (please emphasis my apostrophe) his son?

He vituperated further; ‘look let today be the last day you will ever put your mouth anytime I discipline my kids, nonsense. He snarled. I quietly walked off his office in total dismay.

Fast forward Sunday, March 20, 2021; a phone call from the US woke me up, while I was struggling to pick the voice, he laughed out loudly 🤣🤣; it’s me;……….
I knew he had relocated with his family to the US in 2016 but never had any contact of him thereafter.

He told me he called to apologise for the way he shouted at me 4 years ago, when he dealt a huge slap on his son because what he failed to listen to while he was in Naija he paid sorrowfully for in the US.

He was caught in the same act, Police got him arrested, charged; but after much pleadings from his guarantor, his punishment was commuted to 6-month parenting training at a fee of $500. He learned in a harder way. Here’s a friend who wouldn’t attend my course for FREE 😀

Are you a parent or an adult around the child and you feel like losing it over that child’s exuberance?, please, this session is for you. IT IS FREE and available every Tuesday in 2022

Please do reach out to the office and let’s have a robust conversation together. Don’t wait till you relocate to a structured environment before you know better.

Thank you.
