WHEN YOU CAN’T DO ANYTHING FOR YOUR CHILDREN

“We can’t do anything after our children have left home”.

The above struck a chord with me while I was in a conversation that span through politics, governance, and education, with a very elderly man I paid a courtesy visit to in my usual manner to drink from their well of wisdom. So they all know my biases towards family and parenting; whatever engagement will naturally dovetail to this space, and they would not hold anything back in their advice.

” Akinola, whatever time you have with your children now spend it wisely and qualitatively because you can’t do anything after your children have left home, but you can impart that training while they are home, keep trusting the process and anticipate that God will keep His promises in their adult years……that’s all you need”. He remarked.

This is a priceless admonition from an elderly who has seen it all.

This piece of advice might be useful to someone here.

Let me say it again; you can’t do anything after your children have left home.

Thank you.

Raising Godly teens; my teaching at The Covenant Nations

It was an amazing learning moment together with the Teen teachers and
Parents of The Covenant Nation on Sunday, June 12, 2022One of the prerequisites to leading today’s teens is for all handlers to learn the art of hearing from God in the way the teens should go. Jesus
admonished us in His word in the Gospel of John Chapter 10 “….I know my sheep, my sheep know me, they listen to my voice, the voice of
strangers they won’t hear…….”

A metaphor to drive this passage of the Bible to make it relatable is
‘PRACTICE COACH’

John Wooden is the head Basketball Coach of the University of California at Los Angeles. He prepares his players to hear his voice during games by rolling up a program and talking through it at practice. During games, they could distinguish his voice from the crowd. Spiritual
leaders (teachers, parents, coaches) do the same with God to lead the teens

Two of the attributes of John Wooden that stood him out are; that he focused on the process rather than the games. He also taught his players how to listen to him.

So far the feedback has been awesome from the parents and teachers who made themselves available for the engagement in the two services.

Many thanks to the JESUS TRIBE department of The Covenant Nations for the invite

Our number one job as leaders to the teens is to learn how to be attentive to God because the ministry of parenting starts in God, continues in God, and ends in God.

PARENTING IS EVERYBODY’S RESPONSIBILITY

Parenting is everybody’s responsibility!!!

IT IS NOT HOW GOOD MY CHILDREN ARE RAISED BUT HOW GREAT OTHER CHILDREN ARE RAISED BECAUSE NO ONE/SOCIETY/FAMILY/NATION/WORLD IS INSUSCEPTIBLE TO THE INFLUENCE OF A LARGER SOCIETY

Above all; PARENTING is not natural. It’s our responsibility, and our duty to improve on the good works our parents bequeathed to us, for a greater result.

We neither parent for today nor yesterday; we parent for tomorrow.

The future is surely bright for us.

THIS IS FOR SCHOOL OWNERS

This is for school owners!

I stepped out of my office to board a public bus to see a client, and while waiting; a school bus pulled over, momentarily, I thought it was someone who knows me and just wanted to greet but the guy asked where I was going, I mentioned it, and the next thing he asked was; “do you have change?” “No, I don’t have” I replied to him in amazement.😳 The driver later drove off.

THE SCHOOL BUS BELONGS TO A WELL KNOWN SCHOOL!!!

The estimated fare is N150. Where I was going is close to the school, just 50 metres away from their premises.

I put this out here so school owners can review their employment policy because some of these guys ‘ti gbàbòdè’ (they have compromised)

Please, don’t ask me for the name of the school, I won’t mention it here but I know how to pass the message to the school.

Thank you.
